EVERETT, WA, APR 1, 2017 -- Astronics Ballard Technology, a leading provider of advanced technologies for the global aerospace industry, announced it has entered into an agreement with RDD Enterprises LLC, to supply its Vertical Power VP-X Pro System as standard equipment on all of RDD’s LX7 conversion aircraft.

The VP-X is a modern solid-state power distribution and circuit protection system for experimental and light-sport aircraft. It integrates with the airplane’s EFIS display, providing an unprecedented level of detail that allows the pilot to monitor and control the health of the electrical system while in flight and on the ground. This information-rich display, along with the numerous built-in convenience features and protections, provides a safer and better electrical solution than traditional thermal breakers or automotive-style fuses.

In April 2016, RDD announced that it was taking production reservations for this brand new aircraft conversion, stating “The LX7 is the pinnacle of high performance personal aircraft design. Fundamental goals of the approach to the design and operation of this amazing airplane are safety and enjoyment of high performance flight.” Mark Mahnke, RDD Partner.

By reducing parts count and overall electrical system complexity, the VP-X speeds and simplifies wiring for both OEMs and builders. “Safety and simplicity are key elements in the thoughtful design of the VP-X System. It provides a scalable solution, allowing for easy system changes or expansion with many built-in safety features to increase pilot awareness” says Astronics Ballard Technology General Manager Jon Neal.

The cost-effective VP-X delivers high-end performance at an affordable price making it an excellent solution for experimental and light sport aircraft at all price levels.

“The VP-X Electronic Circuit Breaker System aligns perfectly with our goals, enabling closer control and a higher degree of awareness of the health of electrical system components by the pilot. The VP-X Pro integration with the Flight Deck Displays allows the pilot to focus on enjoying the flight and flying the airplane” adds Mark Mahnke.
