Stallion 51 Celebrates 30th Anniversary
Stallion 51, based at the Kissimmee Gateway Airport (KISM), has long been noted as the nation’s premiere provider of high performance training in the famous WWII fighter, the North American P-51 Mustang. Stallion 51’s unique facility and expert staff instruct owners and pilots of historic aircraft how operate them safely for years to come. For the past three decades, Stallion 51 has attended the annual SUN ‘n FUN International Fly-In and Expo in Lakeland, bringing their stable of Mustangs to the Warbird Flight line with Mr. Mustang himself, Lee Lauderback flying his signature Solo Mustang Demonstration routine in the air show. This year, Stallion 51 is celebrating their 30th Anniversary by inviting the almost 200 graduates of their comprehensive Mustang Check-Out training program to SUN ‘n FUN to help celebrate and commemorate the occasion. On Wednesday, April 5th, 2017 formations of Stallion 51’s Mustang Alumni will arrive at SUN ‘N FUN in preparation to showcase the P-51 during Thursday April 6th air show. Thursday’s MUSTANG DAY flight demonstration will take place during the daily airshow, featuring P-51 formation flybys, aerobatic demos, and a very special USAF Heritage Flight with the F-16 Viper. The week-long Stallion 51 Homecoming celebrations will also have educational opportunities for the Mustang Alumni. Graduates will also attend “post graduate study” workshops and training seminars during the week of SUN ‘n FUN. As Lee Lauderback has been heard to say; “There is more than one way to ride a Mustang, some are just safer than others”. Lee and other Mustang experts will be sharing their insights and answering questions at these educational panel discussions.
In 1987, Stallion 51 Corp. established itself as a unique aviation business that specializes in rare vintage aircraft built on the dreams and passion of the Lauderback brothers. Lee, Peter, Richard and John are the cornerstone of the Mustang world; restoring, operating and marketing the rarest of the breed. Thousands of people have shared the cockpit with founder and president, Lee Lauderback and his crew through the years, learning about the magic of the Merlin and the mystique behind the Mustang.
