AKRON, Ohio, July 22, 2016 – The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company will display its most technologically advanced aviation tire during next week’s EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2016, the “World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration.”
Goodyear will highlight its new Flight Radial, which was designed specifically for The Boeing Company’s new 777X aircraft, at its all-new EAA AirVenture Oshkosh display (#489.)
EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2016 will run from July 25-31 at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wis.
The Flight Radial is Goodyear’s most advanced aviation tire, incorporating Goodyear Featherweight Alloy Core Bead Technology.
Goodyear announced late last year that Boeing had selected its Flight Radial for the 777X, which is scheduled for delivery in 2020.
“We are excited about giving EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2016 attendees the opportunity to see the new Goodyear Flight Radial up-close, at our display,” said Pierre Jambon, vice president, Goodyear Aviation/OTR/Commercial Tires, Goodyear.
During EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2016, Goodyear also will:
• Donate a special VIP prize package for the July 28 EAA AirVenture “Gathering of Eagles” charity auction. The package includes a certificate for a future Goodyear blimp ride, a VIP NASCAR experience and more.
• Host aerobatics legend Michael Goulian inside its display on July 30. He will sign autographs there from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
• Make Goodyear merchandise available at the on-site Goodyear store (booth #2131.)
In addition, as part of its 2016 program, EAA AirVenture Oshkosh will hold a special “Salute to Veterans” on July 29.
Goodyear recently was selected to receive the 2016 Secretary of Defense Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Freedom Award for its outstanding support of employees who serve in the U.S. National Guard and Reserve.
“Receipt of the prestigious ESGR Freedom Award underscores Goodyear’s commitment to the U.S. military and the brave men and women who serve in it,” said Jambon. “Goodyear is one of just 15 companies to win this honor in 2016.”
Goodyear currently employs more than 1,400 associates who are either U.S. military veterans or reservists.
“Goodyear has been a proud EAA AirVenture supporter for 40-plus years and an aviation industry leader for more than 100 years,” said Jambon. “We look forward to participating in this exciting event.”
