NEW SKYVECTOR FLIGHT PLAN FILING CAPABILITY LAUNCHED AT AIRVENTURE
HOLD FOR RELEASE UNTIL JULY 20, 2015

(Oshkosh, WI) SkyVector, the premier provider of world-wide aeronautical charts, online mapping, and related flight planning products and services has officially launched its long-awaited flight plan filing capability. David Graves, Founder of SkyVector notes “SkyVector has always been the pilot’s choice for pre-flight information gathering. Our graphical weather products, FBO directory, and worldwide charts have made us indispensable for preflight decision-making intelligence. Filing was the obvious next-step.” Debuted in its beta form at Sun ‘n Fun in April, the latest flight planning development from SkyVector puts filing at the fingertips of its more than 400,000 monthly users.

Based on a new advanced flight planning engine, pilots can utilize the familiar drag-and-drop route builder to generate accurate flight plans based on their aircraft performance profile and winds aloft. The system will automatically compute any recently cleared or ATC preferred routes using the same aircraft and wind data, allowing the pilot to select the most efficient route for that day. Once the planning is done, briefing and filing are just a click away. “SkyVector is designed to make ICAO filing easy,” notes Graves, “helping to make sense of the alphabet soup of equipment and capability codes, as well as seamlessly handling non-ICAO airport identifiers. We went the extra mile for our pilots.”

Through integration with Lockheed Martin Flight Service, all flight plans filed via SkyVector are instantly available to Lockheed Martin specialists. If a pilot desires, they can call 1-800-WX-BRIEF the moment they hit the “File Flight Plan” button and literally be on the same page with the briefer as they discuss the proposed flight. The integration with Lockheed Martin services also brings a suite of advanced tools to pilots filing via SkyVector, including ACAS (Adverse Conditions Alerting Service) and SE-SAR (Surveillance-Enhanced Search and Rescue), the latter of which, according to the Lockheed Martin Flight Service team, “allows Flight Service personnel to initiate Search and Rescue procedures for VFR flights much earlier than with traditional procedures and with a greatly reduced search area.” Included in this suite is EasyActivate™ and EasyClose™ by Lockheed Martin Flight Service, which gives the pilot a one-click way to activate and close a VFR flight plan.
