Breitling Aerobatic David Martin to Perform at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh July 28-August 3
David Martin, a Texas native, has been performing aerobatic displays since he was 19 years old. He’s been flying through the skies since the age of 12, however, having grown up in a family of pilots. From those early excursions in his family’s Bonanza to his annual crowd-thrilling performances at the National Championship Air Races in Reno, Nevada, David Martin is certainly at home in the air.
Piloting the CAP 232 high above the crowds at the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, David Martin is sponsored by legendary Swiss watch manufacturer Breitling – who, like David, has a long tradition in the world of aviation where precision and technical ability are the key to performance. The partnership is in its eleventh year and is going strong, allowing countless spectators a chance to take part in the Breitling aviation experience. A unique aerobatic maneuver has even been developed through the partnership: the Breitling Tourbillion. The maneuver involves a series of turns and spins mirroring the highly-technical Breitling watch that compensates for variations in time which occur when a watch is in a vertical position – defying the effects of gravity.
At last year’s World Aerobatic Championships, David competed in his home state of Texas. It was David’s eighth time on the United States Aerobatic Team, since first qualifying for the team in 1997. He won the four-minute freestyle flight competition an unprecedented five times, and also took the top spot at the United States National Championships in 2001.
In addition to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, David Martin has been a featured pilot at numerous national air shows, including Sun n’ Fun International Fly in and Expo, the Fort Worth Alliance Air Show, Wings Over Houston and the National Championship Air Races in Reno, Nevada.
This year, Breitling will have a booth with hospitality and the latest pieces from the Breitling collection. The booth is located near Hanger C, between James Ray Boulevard and Celebration Way.
ABOUT BREITLING: A specialist of technical watches, Breitling has played a crucial role in the development of the wrist chronograph and is a leader in this complication. Léon Breitling founded the company in 1884 in St. Imier, Switzerland, and chose to devote himself to the exclusive and demanding field of chronographs and timers. Breitling developed the first independent chronograph pushpiece in 1915 and then added the second pushpiece in 1934 to complete the final configuration of the modern chronograph. In 1969, the brand introduced the first self-winding chronograph movement. Today Breitling is the world’s only major watch brand to equip all its models with chronometer-certified movements, the ultimate token of precision. Breitling is one of the rare companies to produce its own mechanical chronograph movement, entirely developed and manufactured in its state-of-the-art workshops with its quality guaranteed by an unprecedented five-year warranty. This family business is also one of the last remaining independent Swiss watch brands, celebrating its 130-year anniversary this year in 2014.
