Executive GLASS touch Features New Garmin 10.6” Touch Display
Yakima, Washington – March 25, 2014: Light aircraft designer and manufacturer CubCrafters will display a new top-of-the-line instrument panel at Sun ‘n Fun in cooperation with Garmin, which is simultaneously introducing their G3X™ Touch 10.6” touch-sensitive flight display system. CubCrafters’ new panel, Executive GLASS touch, replaces the company’s previous high-end panel with an integrated suite of Garmin’s cutting-edge instruments. Executive GLASS touch is available immediately in CubCrafters Carbon Cub SS, Carbon Cub EX and Sport Cub S2 aircraft. Sun ‘n Fun attendees can see the new panel in CubCrafters’ Booth 92.
“We’re pleased that Garmin has chosen CubCrafters as their OEM partner for this debut”, says Randy Lervold, CubCrafters’ General Manager. “Our Light Sport Aircraft have the best-in-class fit, finish, performance and quality. Together with Garmin’s newest touch-sensitive flight display technology, CubCrafters’ models offer the best-in-class avionics.”
Executive GLASS touch is centered on Garmin’s brand new G3X™ Touch flight display system that includes the GDU 465 10.6” high-resolution touchscreen display. Along with the Garmin GTR 200 COMM and GTX 23 ES mode S transponder, the system integrates each of Garmin’s instruments for a logical, intuitive pilot interface. The G3X Touch has Synthetic Vision and video input for cameras or Enhanced Vision Systems. The display layout is completely configurable and includes a front-loading SD™ card slot for convenient software and database updates.
CubCrafters also includes Garmin’s Angle-of-Attack (AOA) sensor and Sirius XM™ Satellite Radio weather and audio as standard equipment on the Executive GLASS touch panel.
“Garmin’s big, new display and pilot interface are very exciting”, says Lervold. “Even with our Cub’s classic roots, our customers demand the most up-to-date instrumentation and avionics available. Executive GLASS touch represents Garmin’s newest and best ideas.”
Executive GLASS touch is available as an option in CubCrafters’ ready-to-fly LSA aircraft for $24,990. Experimental Amateur Builders can purchase the panel for $27,990. Buyers may also upgrade the panel to include Garmin’s Dual-Axis Autopilot at $4,990, and Garmin GDL 39R ADS-B datalink at $2,100.
CubCrafters, founded in 1980 by current owner and CEO, Jim Richmond, is located at McAllister Field Airport (YKM) in Yakima, WA. CubCrafters’ roots are in the 60-year history of classic taildragger aviation, but its products and services are leading edge.
CubCrafters offers three new, ready-to-fly aircraft. The second generation SPORT CUB S2 is the successor to the original SPORT CUB, the long awaited redesign of the classic airplane that inspired the light sport category. The CARBON CUB SS, a more powerful version of the S2 with 180 horsepower, is the most powerful LSA aircraft in production. The TOP CUB, with a useful load of over 1000 lbs., is the most capable two-place personal and utility aircraft in its class. CubCrafters also offers their Carbon Cub in a kit version, the Carbon Cub EX.
