Cannes Airshow Results: "Tremendous"

With sunny weather and local celebrities on opening day at the Cannes Airshow, the spirits of attendees and exhibitors alike were high.

Over 140 spaces, booths and open-air, were busy, as several European "firsts" and one world premiere kept everyone's interest. The range of aircraft, products, and services covered GA, from small helicopters through midsize bizjets.

The Lisa, a new, amphibious LSA with a wheel-ski option, was presented to the public, its electric-folding wings getting a workout all day.

Hawker-Beechcraft has a special offer -- a "buy one, get one" deal that involves a free Lotus automobile. (This is Cannes, after all. Monaco is just up the street, and you cater to your clientele!)

Cirrus has doubled its fleet of 10th Anniversary SR22s in France, having sold a second (of just ten in the world) on Friday; they added another SR22 sale later at the show. At the end of the show, a new Bonanza, too, will remain in France, the result of more Cannes business; and Tecnam led the sales parade late Saturday, with some twenty (20!) new orders at the Cannes Airshow.

This fifth edition of "the only GA airshow in Europe" promises to be the best ever, for visitors and exhibitors alike.
