SIMCOM ADDS GPS WAAS TO CITATION II SIMULATOR
OSHKOSH, WI EAA AIRVENTURE, JULY 26 - AUGUST 1, 2010 – SimCom recently installed a Garmin GPS 400W in its Orland-based Citation II simulator. The Garmin was selected for the installation in the Level C sim, because of its ease of use and popularity within the Citation fleet of aircraft. In addition to training for LPV (localizer performance with vertical guidance) approaches, the GPS 400W installation includes terrain and navigation databases for enhanced situational awareness during all phases of flight.
“SimCom installed the GPS 400W in response to the rapidly increasing demand for this type of training. GPS WAAS approaches now outnumber ILS approaches and is quickly becoming the preferred approach option. Part 135 operators must now also demonstrate a GPS approach for recurrent training, and we now have the ability to effectively prepare them to do that,” said Tracy Brannon, Chief Operating Officer. In addition to the Citation II simulator, SimCom also has a Citation Ultra sim in Orlando, FL and a Citation II simulator in Scottsdale, AZ. All sims are FAA Level C devices.
