SimCom Training Centers News

OSHKOSH, WI EAA AIRVENTURE, JULY 26 - AUGUST 1, 2010 – SimCom’s TBM 850 flight training device (FTD) has received FAA Level 5 qualification status. Introduced to its simulator “fleet” at this time last year, the TBM 850 FTD has demonstrated its ability to meet exacting FAA performance standards and is now approved for specific training endorsements. The type specific device may be used for satisfying flight review and instrument currency requirements as well as obtaining a high altitude endorsement. This approval provides operators the convenience of satisfying these FAA requirements while enrolled in Initial or Recurrent training. SimCom is the exclusive factory authorized training provider for the Socata TBM in North America and Mexico. Training on the TBM series is offered at SimCom’s state-of-the-art facility in Orlando, FL

Tracy Brannon, Chief Operating Officer, comments, “We are pleased to offer operators of the TBM 850 G1000 the same value-added training benefits as the pilots of the TBM 700. FAA operating requirements may now be easily accomplished in conjunction with periodic training on the device. The combination of advanced simulation technology, the latest computer animation and highly-qualified instructors, help us deliver an extremely realistic and satisfying training experience. Our broad range of training programs on both the TBM 850 and 700 are designed to meet operators’ individual needs.”

SimCom’s TBM 850 has a high-resolution visual system and is configured with the TBM 850’s Garmin G1000 integrated avionics suite. Its location on the U.S. south Atlantic coast centrally positions the simulator for TBM 850 operators throughout North America – which is the single largest geographic market for the very fast turboprop aircraft, as well as for customers in Latin and Central America. The TBM 850 FTD’s visual system uses a Redifun RASTERflite XT image generator with a 172-deg.-wide field of view. This advanced 60-Hz visual system offers day/dawn/dusk/night or continuous time of day operation. It features more than 15,000 light points per channel with 2.5-arc-minute resolution and uni- and bi-directional light point lobe patterns. In addition, the FTD integrates new functions on instructor touch screens and a new improved audio system.
