Celebrating The Olivers!

Celebrating their 30th year performing together is now a bit sweeter for Steve Oliver and Suzanne Asbury-Oliver.
The husband-and-wife aerobatic, pyrobatic and skywriting duo have been named the 2010 recipients of the Bill Barber Award for Showmanship, presented by World Airshow News and friends and family of the late Bill Barber. The award goes to air show performers or teams that “have demonstrated great skill and showmanship.”
The Olivers find the award particularly rewarding not only because 2010 is their 30th air show season together, but also because of their friendship with Barber.
“The only thing greater than being a recipient of the Bill Barber Award and to be honored along with the incredible list of past recipients is to have known and been a friend of Bill,” say the Olivers.
“For those who never had the privilege of knowing him, you missed a truly great person, stick and rudder man, Renaissance man and most important, just a great aviator and human being.”
The award will be presented to the Olivers during EAA AirVenture at the Theater in the Woods on Monday evening, July 26.
The Olivers pilot the Oregon Aero® SkyDancer, a specially modified 1956 de Havilland Chipmunk. They also offer barnstorming rides in their 1929 antique New Standard biplane.
